If you do something bad will you go to hell?
The Bible tells us that all of us have turned our back on God, and ignored and rejected him. While we often think of “sin” as doing something bad, Jesus describes sin as simply separating ourselves from God and ignoring him. We want the good things that God offers us, but we don’t want God! And the penalty for this is death and separation from God and his good gifts forever. This is what the Bible calls hell.
But the Bible also says that Jesus took the penalty that we deserved, so that we don’t have to endure that separation from God forever. Instead we get to enjoy being with God forever, if we trust that Jesus did what it takes for us to be forgiven. Imagine spending eternity with someone who loves you more than anyone else ever has or ever will! That’s something worth getting excited about!
