A few weeks ago someone in our family got a speeding fine.  I won’t tell you who it was, but since both our cars are registered in my name, the letter came to me.  And the polite request for $270 came to me also!

As I reflected on this experience, it occurred to me that there are any number of ways I could try and get out of paying the fine.
I could sign the declaration to say I wasn’t driving the car at the time.
I could claim my car was stolen.
I could say I’m a really good citizen and can’t you give me a break this time?

But I deserve to pay.
